Answer:

Subject: Problem of pollution in Kanpur.
Sir
Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper I would like to draw the attention of the honourable Chairman of Municipal Corporation of Kanpur towards acute pollution problems in the city. The industrial city of Kanpur is the home of millions of people. They have become the victims of pollution of all kinds – air pollution, water pollution and noise pollution. Over the years the city has witnessed the setting up of many industrial units in chemicals ,tanning sector etc. These industrial units are polluting by nature. Most of the industrial units are not conforming to the environmental and pollution control standards. The effect being that the city is facing the problem of pollution. The waste water disposal system is also not proper resulting in water loggerheads here and there. The residents of the city are not getting fresh water from the river as the industrial units are discharging chemical wastes in the river. The air pollution is very acute resulting in skin and lung diseases, and even cancer. The residents of Kanpur experience very disturbing moments due to sound pollution. The vehicles are not conforming to the emission norms and sound pollution norms.
In this context, the concerned authorities should undertake measures to curb the problem of pollution in Kanpur. The authorities should invoke the relevant sections of environmental laws of the country and the constitution to bring the polluters to book. Awareness campaigns to educate the polluters should be conducted to bring the problem under control.
Yours truly
Mr.Khurana.
